Best armor stat wise? Tattoos.

Best looking? Personal opinion.

Personally, my N/Me got herself the Necrotic (which is cheaper in terms of materials than Tormentor's) and never looked back. Just like Tormentor's, it has AL 70, which provides the same protection against physical damage as the rangers have. If your Necromancer happens to be using Offering of Blood for energy management, you don't really need the extra boost from tattoos. More energy is always nice - except if you're dead. And before any arguments to the contrary may arise, yes, I have a set of tattoos, and they are infused, and they sit in my F7 bag and don't do squat.

EDIT: One last thing. If you play a character heavily focused on exploiting corpses, consider getting the Bloodstained Boots with the "spells that target corpses are faster" stat. I don't remember precisely what the numeric equivalent of that is, but I'm sure someone on these forums has done some testing in that respect.

Bloodstained boots reduce cast times on corpse-targeting spells only when the original cast time was 5 or more seconds. There are no such skills, so the boots are pointless.

It's nice to know I wasted money on Bloodstained boots then.

My freinds personal choice. Tormentor's Gloves, Tattoo chest and legs, and Bloodstained boots. Why, because they like a necro in a bikini...that's all. Nothing more nothing less. What armor you wish, is the armor you should get. Period.

BTW Here's my freinds in Tormentor's and as discribed above.

Interesting, I use bloodstained boots when I run Minions and I notice a clearly distinguishable casting time with exploiting corpses versus not wearing them.

My choice on Armour was Necrtoic Tunic/Leggings, Tats for Hands/Feet......you get the higher AL for the majority of your body + a lil extra energy from the tats......I aslo happen to think the combo looks better.

At work atm so no PIC but you can check me out this evening - Scarys On His Way -ign

And do you use any items with 20% faster cast for death magic?

These mods make it quite difficult to test for true advantage on the boots.

For a true test, remove the fast cast mod items, fire up fraps, and toggle wearing the boots - then count frames.

My favorite necro armor is 15k/8k scars...

...great stats and no adverse damage adjustments.

The only thing I don't like about tattoos (besides the lower AL) is the way the feet are rendered without boots. It looks like the feet end in pyramids or something

In my case I just buy the armor that looks better. In my opinion necrotic is ugly. I got me 15K tormentor and cannot wait for it to be updated.
Some people get scars for energy, Tormentor/Necrotic to reduce holy damage
and Fanatic (Cultist)/Bonelace to reduce piercing.
And then wear them depending on the location or mission.
For me I have a male necro so scars is out of the question since they look nasty so does necrotic. So I had to decide between Bonelace, Cultist or Tormentor.
Tornmentor clearly wins compairing to the other 2 looks wise so thats why I got it.
Check this for pics and stats for each armor

you can also find the same info for other characters.

Tormentor and Necrotic armors do not "reduce" holy damage. They provide AL 70, 10 higher than tattoos, at the cost of "reduced protection against holy damage." Which means you will take more damage from things that do Holy damage than AL 70 would normally allow.

Even if Tormentor's looks better, Necrotic is easier to craft. Unlike Tormentor's, Necrotic requires no Steel Ingots, the price of which is constantly driven up by the demands of Warriors.

I shot myself in the foot with that post, I ended up with 15k scars on my own necro 3 days later.

I still don't like how they render the feet though. When they're sitting down the bottom of the feet is completely untextured.

I still can't stand DF scars either though.
